Overview
Performance lives in two datasets: lab probes that explain causes, and Chrome UX Report (CrUX) field data that Google actually ranks you on. This scanner fuses both — lab and field side by side per vital, with the divergence diagnosed — and grades each vital against its own weekly field history, so a slow deploy reads as a regression on the next scan instead of a traffic drop three weeks later.
What this scanner does
Runs lab checks on delivery and transport (TTFB, compression, HTTP/2/3, redirect chains, cache headers), page weight, render-blocking resources, image formats and dimensions, lazy loading, and font-display. Pulls 28-day p75 field data (LCP, INP, CLS, FCP, TTFB) from CrUX, phone-first, plus up to 40 weeks of history. Every scan compares the latest weekly p75 against 4 and 12 weeks ago and calls a regression only when the metric is both 20% worse and past a material floor (LCP +250ms, INP +40ms, CLS +0.02), so tiny-value noise never scores.
Why it matters
Core Web Vitals are a ranking signal measured on real users — your fast laptop tells you nothing. Lab-only scores miss real-device slowness; field-only numbers lag 28 days and hide causes. Performance also decays silently: a marketing script or heavy hero image ships invisibly in review and shows up as lost rankings a month later. Fused data plus a trend verdict on every scan is how that surfaces while it is still a diff.
